What is Organic?

23 May

Jim and I always seem to have a discussion about what organic is. I prefer organic milk and some other products, like maranara sauce, spices, cleaners, etc.

Jim, however, doesn’t quite buy into organic because he says that the label is deceiving. He says that all things that are made of carbon are organic. All things that can be put back into the earth are organic.

My understanding is that products that dub themselves organic do not use harsh chemicals or un-natural substances in the making of the product, but I’m not sure.

Thoughts?

    I understand Jim’s point.

But who wants a shitload of chemicals in their food? If they want to dub it “organic” instead of calling it “chemical free” – so what?

calling something that’s made without using pesticides or growth hormones or viagra “organic” isn’t really accurate, but organic chocolate milk is really good so i’ll forgive them.
