Chris: Age 32

Christmas morning / He got just what he wished for / a new keyboard, a new instrument for inspiration / something to take him away / from these four walls / his self-inflicted life

Every night, after the daily grind / of computer keys and customer service / he sits down with a beer and a sigh / He plays only simple notes that don’t sound like they used to. / Years ago, the music came so easily / New songs,  good songs that made the world make sense.

What he needed was a new experience / something beyond himself, / something real / like a walking through the crackling woods / or the scent of a woman on his skin / or simply, maybe / the dreams we used to have / when we were inspired by what the future could be. / The possibility.
