When you wake up at night

13 Dec

I think it is interesting to hear about the programs that people turn on when they can’t sleep at night. For example, since age 14, Jim turns on MASH every night to fall asleep by. Now, I’ve gotten into this routine too. I wonder how many nights in the future I will be holding a child who won’t sleep while drowsily watching MASH.

I just read that one of my cousins turns on Lion King 1 and a 1/2 each night to fall asleep by – and another one of my cousins watches “Elf” all year around for the same purpose. These made me laugh.

Little Billy, Billy Mayes’ son, wrote about a woman on his blog who felt that her life was saved by watching an Orange Glo infomercial. She had been in a depression for a few months and it had reached the point of insomnia. She said she laid there crying and thinking terrible thoughts when she decided to see if there was anything on TV that would help. That’s when she saw Billy for the first time. His comedic, over-the-top style of pitching made her do the most surprising thing: laugh. And that’s when she realized she had something to turn to to help her at night when all felt lost. Ah, the power of Billy Mayes.

Do you have anything that helps you sleep at night?
