Willie Nelson on Death

26 Jun

I read a really great article on Willie Nelson in the Parade Sunday supplement this morning.  When asked about his son, who hanged himself about twenty years ago, and I thought his perspective of death and dying was amazingly serene.

Death is not the end of anything. I believe that all of us are only energy that becomes matter. When the matter goes away, the energy still exists. You can’t destroy it. It never dies. It manifests itself somewhere else. We are never alone. Even by ourselves, we are never alone. Death is just a door opening to somewhere else. Someday we’ll know what that door opens to.
